Skip Main Menu This site was started on September 5, 2011 and has a long way to go before it is even approximately "complete". Please be patient, but dive in and enjoy what is here. There are discussion forums in place for most all of the course content; please go ahead and use these, especially on topics we are reviewing in the online satsangs. A couple of the links at the top allow "Guest" login. If you want to use the rest of the site, please contact Swami Jnaneshvara for a login name and password. If we have never met, please tell me about yourself and your interest in this. Abhyasa Ashram is a school of Self-Awareness in the tradition of the Himalayan Masters, as communicated through the Himalayan master Swami Rama. The use of the term "school of Self-Awareness" does not mean a physical school in the conventional sense of the word (although we have a physical ashram in Florida USA). It means the inner school of self-study, of introspection into one's own true nature. This online distance learning program is an important part of that process and is sponsored by Abhyasa Ashram. We have also online discussions and Facebook groups to complement the community of sadhakas (practitioners). See Swami J's Traditional Yoga website Abhyasa Ashram Satsang Facebook group | Welcome to the Abhyasa Ashram Online Learning Community and CoursesSPECIAL NOTE ON SITE: The provider (NTC Hosting) is not updating the software (Moodle) for the site. They are using an obsolete version which has many bugs in it. The effect is that the site is not working properly. I don't know when or if I will be able to get the site working properly. I remain committed to the idea of online learning and will post new info as available. WHY THIS SITE: For quite a few years people whom I have met at retreats or other gatherings, whether in India, US, or elsewhere have asked "What do I do now?" after we will no longer be together face-to-face. I have great compassion for all of the many sincere people I have met, as well as the many people who write to me, and whom I have not met face to face. All are looking for some quality way to learn or continue to learn the principles and practice of this tradition of the Himalayan masters. It is out of compassion that I have wanted to create better and better online means of doing this. The SwamiJ.com site and the online oral discussions have been useful, but I hope this distance learning program goes a step further. LOGIN INFO: This site has only been here a few weeks and I'm working hard to expand it. Please be patient, but go ahead and dive in and enjoy what is here. ABHYASA ASHRAM: Abhyasa Ashram is a school of Self-Awareness in the tradition of the Himalayan Masters, as communicated through the Himalayan master Swami Rama. See: Ashram website / Calendar of Activities / Swami J's Traditional Yoga website / Abhyasa Ashram Satsang Facebook group FIRST, Please enroll in the USING THIS SITE "course" (below) as this is a place to communicate about the site itself and the general use of the courses. Please freely use the DISCUSSION FORUMS UPDATES forum in the Using this Site course to talk with one another and to make notes about what course you are working on and where you are making forum posts. This will help us all keep in touch and on track together. START WITH THE SUMMARY OF PRACTICES: It may be tempting to "enroll" in all of the courses, but I encourage you to approach this slowly over time. I am gradually setting up Lesson quizzes and am starting with the courses near the top and working down (starting with the Summary of Practices). Explore them all, but please go through the early ones more closely and feel some sense of complestion before moving on. There is no hurry, no race to go through all of this at once. Please make posts in the discussion forums. We can enjoy learning from one another in this way, and get to know one another better as well. READING & POSTING: Whenever you read any chapter or Topic, please post a comment or question in the related Discussion forum. LESSONS/QUIZZES: Please note that the Lesson Quizzes are NOT here to "test" you. They are merely ways to review the principles and practices. Each question is set so that you have 10 chances to get the "right" answer. You may also re-take the whole series for each Lesson. This should all be an enjoyable learning experience, not "work" for you to complete. In loving service, Swami Jnaneshvara Site news announcementsOlder topics ... Course categories
